Governors are a vital part of our school. The Governors bring a range of experiences and skills from many walks of life. They work as a team to ensure that the pupils in Downfield are given the best possible education in order to achieve their full potential. One of the key priorities is raising the standards of our school.
The role of the governing body is to support the head teacher and staff in ensuring that our children receive a high standard of education in a supportive and inclusive environment. In practical terms, this means making decisions with regard to a wide range of policies and tracking the progress and direction taken by the school. The actual day to day running of the school is the responsibility of the head teacher. The full governing body meets once each term in addition to which all governors are attached to a number of subcommittees which meet one to three times a year.
